Princess and the Frog Party Food and Snacks

What should you serve to eat at a Princess and the Frog birthday party? Here are some ideas for tasty treats that fit the frog-and-lily-pad theme.

Table settings
Set the table with a blue tablecloth, napkins and tableware in plastic or paper. Then scatter green lilypad leaves cut from construction paper over the table, along with some green sparkly confetti. Now you have the perfect background for the treats. Alternatively, you can purchase Princess and the Frog tableware which can help your decorations and set the theme.

Food!

What better way to have a Princess Frog themed party then to use a recipe from the official cookbook!

White lily minipizzas
These dainty mini-pizzas are a bit fiddly to make, but they’re delicious and look very pretty on the table. Roll out homemade or packaged pizza dough thinly, and cut into four-inch circles with a cookie cutter or using the bottom of a drinking glass. Spread each circle with green pesto. Now unwrap a white processed cheese slice and lay it on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to scallop the edges to create a round, petaled flower shape. Lay a flower on each pizza. Bake until the cheese is melted and the crust is lightly browned.

Frogwiches
Beat a few drops of green food coloring into some cream cheese, and create layered sandwiches: white sandwich bread, a layer of cream cheese, another slice of bread, another cream cheese layer, and then the top slice of bread. Sprinkle a bit of dried dill over each sandwich, cut the crusts off with a sharp knife, and then cut each layered sandwich into quarters. Serve on a platter with celery sticks, green beans and green pepper sticks.

Lilypad snack mix
Using sharp scissors, cut the rolled rims off pink, purple or white paper cups. Then cut points all the way around the edge of the cups, starting at the rim and reaching halfway down the cup. Fold the points outward to make a flower design. Fill each “flower” with the snack mix of your choice: nuts and bolts, mixed nuts, trail mix, popcorn, etc. Place each flower on a lily pad cut from green construction paper.

Kissy cookies
Roll out homemade or store-bought butter cookie dough, and cut with a kiss-shaped cookie cutter. Sprinkle the cookies with red or pink crystal sugar before baking, or bake plain cookies and then cover with red or pink icing. You can also use a Frog cookie cutter!

Cheesy crowns
Roll out homemade or store-bought biscuit dough or savory pastry dough. Cut into crown-shapes, sprinkle with cheddar cheese and bake.

Froggy jello
Dissolve two packages of lime Jello in 2 ½ cups of boiling water, pour mixture into a 9” x 9” pan, and refrigerate. When set, unmold jello and cut into cubes. Set a gummy frog on each cube, and serve on a platter.

Frog and princess sodas
Offer two kinds of soda in the pink and green theme. Serve pink cream soda with a scoop of fizzing green sherbert, or green apple soda with a scoop of strawberry sherbert. You can even serve the soda with a frozen Frog straw by using a silicone Frog and straw Ice Cube Mold!

Hopefully these ideas help to create a great lily-pad themed party food.
