Narnia Party Food and Snack Ideas

The food at the Chronicle of Narnia as in the books can be a wide variety of things. In fact, there is such a wide variety of selection that there’s a book named The Narnia Cookbook: Foods from C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia. Here are a few ideas to consider for your Narnia themed party food.

Create a feast for a king! : C.S. Lewis spoke of many different foods in the book but a major one was roasted turkey and toast. You can use a roast chick instead of a turkey as it’s probably easier to find. He also spoke extensively of “Turkish Delight” which may or may not appeal to the children.

Tumnus treats: Create small sandwiches our of various fillings. You could have chicken and tuna salad sandwiches served on toasted bread.

Roasted Apple: Simply take an apple and remove the core leaving it in one piece. Add walnuts, raisins, butter and brown sugar to a bowl and pour over the apples and in the middle. Bake in the oven covered for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

Drinks: The drinks in the Chronicles of Narnia often consisted of wine so for the kids have grape juice and apple cider!

Winter Themed Food: If you’ve chosen a winter themed birthday party then you can consider a few ‘winter themed’ foods. For example: moisten strawberries, grapes, and blueberries and roll them in sugar. Place them in the freezer and serve icy cold. This is a great icy treat that kids love and goes with the frozen, wintery theme of the party.

Remember to have lots of variety as kids of this age can be VERY picky and may not eat any of the food provided. Finally, don’t forget the Narnia Tableware including paper plates, napkins and cups.
