Diego Birthday Cake

diego birthday cake topperThe birthday party cake is one of the main features of just about any party and this is no different with a Go Diego Go Birthday party cake. We have a few ideas for a Diego cake and even Diego cupcakes!

Animal Rescue Center Cake
Bake a sheet cake and cover it with vanilla frosting tinted green. Next, buy a roll of sugar cookie dough and cut out shapes to form an A-frame house to top the cake (if you need a pattern, you can find a free one here (PDF)). This A-frame house will become the Animal Rescue Center. Bake the cut-out cookie shapes, ice the roof pieces blue, and pipe a blue door and blue-frame windows on the house. Assemble the house using royal icing to “glue” it together and place it on top of the cake. Pose a Go, Diego, Go! action figure next to the Animal Rescue Center, and arrange candle holders in the shape of safari animals on the cake.

Official Diego Birthday Cake
To create an official Diego birthday cake you can buy a Diego cake topper kit. The kit includes 3 tree shaped cake pics, a car with Dora inside, a car with Diego inside and a bridge. This makes a very cool looking Diego cake that all the kids will enjoy. Another, Diego option is to buy an edible cake image topper. The image topper is placed on the top of a rectangular cake and makes an image of Diego!

Safari Cupcakes
If you’re going with a safari theme for your Diego birthday party, you can serve a big plate of safari cupcakes. Bake a batch of cupcakes and frost them with vanilla icing with a bit of melted chocolate mixed in to color the frosting pale brown. Crush graham crackers or Nilla wafers and sprinkle them over the cupcakes thickly to create the sandy texture of the safari environment. Pick up some inexpensive plastic jungle animals at the dollar store—lions, tigers, elephants, zebras, giraffes and gorillas—and top each cupcake with one animal. You can also cut palm leaves out of green construction paper and glue them to the tops of toothpicks to create palm trees for the sahara cupcakes.

Rainforest Cupcakes
If you’re going with a rainforest theme for the party, you can make a batch of rainforest cupcakes instead. Cover with vanilla frosting tinted bright green, and sprinkle crushed chocolate cookie wafers to make “dirt.” Then place gummi frogs, snakes and turtles on each cupcake.

Diego Cupcakes
The final option to consider is to purchase Diego cupcake picks or rings. These make the decorating your cupcakes super simple as you simply bake and ice a cupcake then add a Diego pick or ring. You’ll be surprised how much the kids like the cupcakes with this simple topper!
